Washington - USA (22.-26.04.2004) / Washington - USA (April 22 to 26, 2004)

In April 2004 I bought a flight from Vienna to Washington with KLM only for 130 Euros without tax. In the end of April
I started to my trip to the United States. Boarding for KLM flight 1838 was at gate C51. Our aircraft was a Boeing
737-306 PH-BDA. At 6.55am local time we started at runway 29 to my first stop in Amsterdam where I had a short transfer.
After 2 hours of light time we landed at runway 18C. I continued onboard KLM 651 to Washington - this time I flew with
a Boeing 767-306(ER) PH-BZA. Takeoff was at runway 36L. The flight time to Washington was aprox. 8 hours - landing
in Washington/Dulles was at runway 19R.

After customs I tokk a taxi to downtown Washington, where I spent the next 3 night at the Renaissance hotel. From the hotel
a lot of sightseeing were in walking distance. The first stop at the next morning was at the Washington Monument followed by
the Capitol and finally the White House. The weather was marvelous this day. In the afternoon I visited the Lincoln Memorial
and the to the Potomac river, where I had a very good view onto the landing aircrafts at Washington Reagan National airport.
After I made some photos I returned to my hotel in the evening. A highlight of the next day was the Air and Space Museum.
The next stop was at the FBI Building, unfortunately there a no more tours through the building. In the evening I took my
camera and made some pictures from Washington by night. The Washington Monument and the capitol looked very good
with all light on.

Here some pictures from Washington ...

In fact that the Washington Reagan National airport is located direct in town. All landings at this 2 days in Washington
were made at runway 19, so I hade a good view to the approaching aircrafts along he Potomac River.

At 25th of April I returned to Dulles airport. After check-in I went to gate B19, where boarding for KLM flight 652 to
Amsterdam
started at 3.30pm. Takeoff was at 5.00pm at runway 19R. The aircraft was a Boeing 767-306(ER) PH-BZF.
Landing at Amsterdam Schiphol was at runway 06. Boarding for my connecting flight KLM 1839 to Vienna was at gate
B06. This time we user a Fokker F70 PH-KZI for this trip. At 8.10am we started at runway 36L, the landing in Vienna
was at runway 34.
