At October 2004 I made my third visit to Sydney in Australia. After check-in we went to gate A04, where boarding started. Flight Austrian 1 via Kuala Lumpur to Sydney was fully occupied this day. Our aircraft was an Boeing 777-2Z9(ER) OE-LPB. With 1 hour delay we started at runway 29. Our route continued from Vienna over the Black Sea to India, then over the Bay of Bengal to our stopp at Kuala Lumpur. Via runway 14R we continued our journey twoards Australia. We passed the australian coastline near Broome. We flew over the Ayers Rock and reached finally Sydney at aprox. 3.00pm the next day. The landing was at runway 16R. After customs we took an airport shuttle directly to our hotel near the Opera House - the Marriott Sydney Harbour. At the evening we made a small walk to the harbour and the Opera House at night. Unforntunately it was raining the next morning, so we visited the Sydney Aquarium, where you can see nearly everything up to a shark. After the aquarium we took a taxi back to the harbour where we had booked a harbour tour in the afternoon. Despite of the bad weather we had a great time during this harbour cruise. We passed the Opera House then the Taronga Zoo and back to Darling harbour and finally back to our starting point - the Circular Quay. In the evening we had dinner in the Hard Rock Cafe. At 2nd of October we also made a daytrip to Brisbane. In the morning we were goint to Sydney airpoirt. Boarding for our flight QF 506 to Brisbane was at 7:15am at gate 7. Our aircraft for the aprox. 1 hour flight was an Airbus A330-301 VH-QPB. At 7:45am we took of at runway 16L, the landing at Brisbane was at runway 19. Fortunately the weather in Brisbane was much better than in Sydney. The temperature was at 25 degrees. We were going into the city of Brisbane by taxi. We explored the city center by foot. In the afternoon we were going back to the airport, where our flight QF 557 took of at 8:10pm at runway 19. This time our aircraft was a Boeing 767-336(ER) VH-ZXE. The landing was at 9:40pm at runway 25 in Sydney. We started the next morning with a walk through Sydney. The weather was marvelous this day. After lunch we returned to the airport, where I had the opportunity the make a lot of pictures at the visitor terrace. Here som photos from the observation deck ...
