From
15th to 19th of March we made an city trip to New York. After check-in
we had time to visit the business lounge.
Boarding for flight Austrian 87 was at gate C56, takeoff was at runway
29 at 11:30am. Our aircraft was an Airbus A340-211
OE-LAH. The route was from Austria over Great Britain and Ireland
to America. During our final approach at New York,
we had an excellent view down to Long Island. Landing was at runway
31L.

After customs we took an airport shuttle to
our hotel - The Warwick. After an short break in our room we continued
to
the Rockefeller Center. On the observation deck at the 72th floor
we had an marvelous view at New York during night.

On the next morning we travelled to South Ferry
with the subway. On bord the ferry from Manhattan to Staten Island
you
could have a great view to the New York skyline - unfortunately without
the World Trade Center. Then we walked to Battery
Park, the Wall Street and finally to Ground Zero. After lunch we continued
to Queens by subway. We walked over the Brooklyn
Bridge back to Manhattan. The last trip this day was a short walk
along the East River.

On the 17th we travelled to Battery Park in
the morning. After we had bought the tickets for the Statue of Liberty
we had to
wait aprox. 1 hour, before we could join the ferry to the island.
We continued to Ellis Island. Back in the Battery Park we took
the subway to Grand Central - the largest railway station of the world.
We also had our lunch in Grand Central. In the
afternoon we walked to the Chrysler Building at the UN-Headquarters.
Then we walked along the East River to the 54th
street. At 17th of March the New Yorkers celebrate the St.Patricks
day on the fifth avenue.

On the following morning we travelled to the
Empire State Building - the highest building in New York. Fortunately
our waiting
time to reach the observation deck on the 86th floor wasn't to long.
The weather was also very good so we had an marvelous
view down to New York. We continued with the Intrepid Sea and Air
Museum at the Hudson River. Along with a lot of
US military planes we could saw a Concorde from British Airways. Then
we took the subway to St.Johns - the biggest
church of the world which is still under construction. On the way
back to our hotel we walked throught the Central Park.

the big store Macey's.

In the afternoon we took an airport shuttle
back to the airport. After check-in we had time to visit the lounge.
Boarding for our flight Austrian 88 back to Vienna was at gate 8.
We took of at runway 31L on schedule at
6:25pm. Our aircraft was an Airbus A330-223 OE-LAP.
